I(обряд, совершаемый служителями церкви над различными предметами, зданиями и т. п., после чего они становятся посвящёнными Богу; благодаря этому можно использовать их в религ. целях как духовенством, так и мирянами) consecration, sanctimony, sanctification, dedication, blessingосвящение Святых Даров (главный момент в христ. литургии; в правосл. церкви совершается во время главной евхаристической молитвы, безмолвно произносимой священником перед престолом в алтаре, лишь некоторые части её возглашаются во всеуслышание, начиная с возгласа: "победную песнь поющие, вопиющие, взывающие и глаголящие" ("singing the triumphant hymn, shouting, proclaiming and saying"), и завершается словами: "сотвори убо хлеб сей - честное Тело Христа Твоего, а еже в чаше сей - честную Кровь Христа Твоего, преложив Духом Твоим Святым" ('and make this Bread the precious Body of Thy Christ, and that which is in this Cup, the precious Blood of Thy Christ, making the change by Thy Holy Spirit), после которых и которыми совершается акт пресуществления хлеба и вина в Тело и Кровь Христову) — sacring [sanctification] of the Host
освящение храма (в правосл. церкви совершается архиереем, или же он посылает только освященный антиминс, а освящение храма поручает совершить лицу пресвитерского достоинства; самый обряд освящение храма совершается гл. обр. над престолом и его принадлежностями; после облачения престола и жертвенника священнослужители освящают алтарь и весь храм каждением и кроплением св. водой, а при архиерейском служении - и помазанием стен св. миром; вокруг храма обносятся св. мощи - при архиерейском служении, или антиминс - при священническом; при архиерейском служении за этим следует положение св. мощей под престол и в антиминс; после освящения храма совершается обычным порядком литургия) — dedication [consecration] of a church
